A little more than 2 years ago, I released my first Christian song and have continued to drop more Christian music since then. It has been such an amazing journey for my walk and I truly feel blessed to witness how others respond to it. Now I am aware that I don't have a big following, but I have enough people listening to the music where I felt the responsibility to be transparent and share this next chapter I am about to walk into. Making music is very cathartic and therapeutic for me and while I have been strictly releasing Christian songs, behind the scenes I have also been writing songs that helped me process deeply into my identity and relationships of the past and present. Through the lens of the Christian I am today, it made me reflect on my own actions and I have learned a lot about who I am and who I used to be by doing so. However I have been wrestling for some time on whether I should release these songs. I've prayed and sought counsel with leaders on this matter, I was constantly going back and forth in what kind of fruit these songs would produce. The conclusion is that I don't know! Simply because I cannot control how people will perceive these songs, all I can do is discern the lyrics I write and make a decision. Despite the risk of me being wrong, I've come to terms with it and made a choice to move forward. This does not mean I will stop making Christian songs, because don't get it twisted, before I am an artist, I am first and foremost a CHILD OF GOD. I am just showing yall more of who I am and it may be uncomfortable but through it all I pray that good comes from it. This may be a strange request from me, but as a music lover, I can't ignore how influential songs can be. So the only thing I ask of you is if some of these songs perpetuates a certain emotion and puts you in a cyclical state in that emotion, PLEASE DO NOT KEEP LISTENING TO THAT SONG. My intention with these songs is not for me to amplify but to express, Christian or not, there is still a reality of experiences that everyone goes through whether it comes from pain or joy. I am not condoning to continue living in the realities of any song I write, but as an artist I need to communicate honestly about what I have gone through and still go through. I don't expect anyone to stay along for this journey as most of you have probably found me based on the Christian contents of my music, but I am at peace with this decision and excited for this next chapter. Appreciate everyone who listens to the music, and may God bless & strengthen everyone in their individual paths so that the body of Christ will be in unison to the will of the Father.
